The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (sometimes referred to as Mormon or LDS) has Canneries, that are now called Food Storage Centers, all across the United States and a couple in Canada. Anyone can shop at these centers and purchase shelf-stable foods for building up their home food supply.
Home Storage Centers used to be known as the LDS Cannery but in most of the church’s home storage centers you will no longer be able to can any food, but instead, purchase the same items prepackaged. There is no longer the option to can food except for in 12 specific locations.

Available foods, especially bulk foods, are limited at food storage centers so you’ll want to consider finding other budget-friendly bulk food stores (see the best places to buy bulk food online at a discount) and the cheapest grocery stores in your effort to build a sufficient food supply (use our food storage calculator). What Food Items Can You Purchase at LDS Canneries?
Limited bulk foods are available for purchase at LDS Canneries (Food Storage Centers). Items that are available in bulk include beans, carrots, onions, and occasionally other items. In addition to bulk foods, you can also purchase many other shelf-stable foods in #10 cans and foil pouches.
The below food storage items can be purchased either in-person or at the church’s online store. Keep in mind that some items might be in limited supply at different times so it might be a good idea to contact the specific center about availability and open hours before your visit.

Can anyone Buy from the LDS Cannery (aka Home Storage Center)?
Yes, anyone can buy items from LDS canneries (Food Storage Centers) it is NOT reserved only for members of the church. Anyone that desires to buy shelf-stable foods at a discount for emergencies or regular use is welcome to shop at LDS Canneries. Self-reliance and preparedness are principles that the church encourages for not only its members but for everyone.
Home Storage Centers provide and donate shelf-stable food all over the world and anyone can volunteer at a center near you.
